Samhain

Shadow swells
Pregnant with seed,
Mother of
The falling leaves,
Golden rain on
The forest floor,
Golden veil of
The spirit door
That death has
Pushed ajar this night
To bring this
Darkened world alight
With memories in
The heart’s warm flame
As what was lost
Is found again.

A seed of hope
As darkness falls,
A promise of light
As winter calls and
The doorway closes
Once again
As the embers fade
At the summer’s end.
